Making Work and Life Easier with Technology |
| The
Problem: A Bay Area county
Public Works Department needed help managing a project that would
integrate Geographic Information Systems (GIS) database mapping technology
with existing information databases to improve customer service. |
The
PIW Solution: SMART Planning,
Decision Support and Organization Capacity Building
Collaborating with a team, PIW worked to create a detailed work plan,
a strategy document, and the selection criteria for the right mix
of technology consulting support and existing staff. In addition,
PIW developed a conceptual database design approach and project schedule
that could be used as a roadmap for future efforts. |
| The
Result: The project will result in the creation of departmental
and organizational support for an online eGIS Database that is accessible
to the both the general public and professionals without requiring
substantial additions to the county's current staff. |
